Are you planning for a shopping spree in Korea? This time, you may be looking for shoes and you need a little help when it comes to buying footwear. Don’t worry, I got you! In this blog, I will teach you some basic phrases that you can use while shopping for shoes in Korea.





1.Can I try these shoes on? 

: 이 신발 신어볼 수 있어요? (I shinbal shineobol su issoyo?)


When you want to try on a shoe and see if it fits you, use this question.



Example:


Customer: 이 신발 신어볼 수 있어요? (I shinbal shineobol su isseoyo?)

Can I try these shoes on?


Salesperson: 네, 그럼요! (Ne, geureomyo!)

Yes, of course! 





2. Do you have size 240? 

: 사이즈 240 있나요? (Saijeu ibaekssaship innayo?)


In Korea, millimeters are used to measure shoe size. You can look for shoe size conversion charts on the internet to see your size in Korean.



Example:


Customer: 사이즈 240 있나요? (Saijeu ibaekssaship innayo?)

Do you have size 240?


Salesperson: 예, 240 사이즈, 빨리 가져올게요. (Ye, ibaekssaship saijeu ppalli gachyeoolkeyo.)

Yes, I'll get a size 240 quickly.





3. I think it’s a bit small. / I think it’s a little big. 

: 조금 작은 것 같아요. / 조금 큰 것 같아요.

(Jogeum jakeun geot gatayo. / Jogeum keun geot gatayo.)


When you try on a shoe and it doesn’t fit you, you can use this phrase.



Example:


Customer: 조금 큰 것 같아요. (Jogeum keun geot gatayo.)

I think it’s a little big.


Salesperson: 그럼 245 사이즈로 가져다드릴게요. (Ibaeksasipo ssaijeuro gajodadeurilgeyo.)

Then, I will bring you size 245.

 




4. Can I try on a smaller / larger size?

: 더 작은 / 더 큰 사이즈 신어볼 수 있나요? (Deo jakeun / Deo keun saijeu shineobol su ittnayo?)


Use this phrase if you want to try on a smaller (더 작은) or larger (더 큰) size.



Example:


Customer: 조금 큰 것 같아요. 더 작은 사이즈 신어볼 수 있나요?

(Jogeum keun geot gatayo. Deo jakeun saijeu shineobol su ittnayo?)

I think it’s a little big. Can I try on a smaller size?


Salesperson: 네, 235 사이즈 가져다드릴게요. (Ne, ibaeksamsipo ssaijeu gajodadeurilkkeyo.)

Sure, I'll bring you size 235.





5. Do you have it in other colors? 

: 다른 색깔도 있나요? (Dareun saekkkaldo ittnayo?)


If you want to know if the shoes you like are available in other colors, you can ask this question to the salesperson.



Example:


Customer: 혹시,  다른 색깔도 있나요? (Hokshi, dareun saekkkaldo ittnayo?)

By any chance, do you have it in other colors?


Salesperson: 네, 이 디자인은 보라 색깔도 있어요. (Ne, i dijaineun bora saekkaldo isseoyo.)

Yes, this design is also available in purple.





6. What is the new design this time?

: 이번에 새로 나온 디자인이 뭐예요? (Ibeone saero naon dijaini mwoyeyo?)


If you are looking for the newest designs available, you can ask this question.



Example:


Customer: 이번에 새로 나온 디자인이 뭐예요? (Ibeone saero naon dijaini mwoyeyo?)

What is the new design this time?


Salesperson: 여기가 신상 코너예요. 요즘은 이 제품이 인기가 많아요.

(Yeogiga shinsang koneoyeoyo. Yojeumeun ijepumi ingiga manayo.)

Here is the section for new arrivals. This product is very popular these days.



7. I'm looking for lightweight shoes.

: 가벼운 신발을 찾고 있어요.  (Gabyeoun shinbareul chatgo isseoyo.)


If you are looking for lightweight shoes for everyday use, this phrase will be useful.



Example:


Salesperson: 찾으시는 거 있으세요? (Chajeushineun geo isseusayo?)

Are you looking for something?


Customer: 가벼운 신발을 찾고 있어요.  (Gabyeoun shinbareul chatgo isseoyo.)

I'm looking for lightweight shoes.





8. I'm looking for shoes to wear while running. 

: 러닝할 때 신을 신발을 찾고 있어요. (Reoninghal ttae shineul shinbareul chatgo isseoyo.)


If you are looking for running shoes, ask for assistance and use this phrase.



Example:

Customer: 저기요, 러닝할 때 신을 신발을 찾고 있어요.

(Jeogiyo, reoninghal ttae shineul shinbareul chatgo isseoyo.)

Excuse me, I’m looking for shoes to wear while running.


Salesperson: 여기 러닝화 코너가 있어요. 한번 보세요.

(Yeogi reoninghal koneoga isseoyo. Hanbeon boseyo.)

9. I'll look around a little bit more.

: 좀 더 둘러볼게요. (Jom deo dulleobolkkeyo.)


If you have already tried on several pairs of shoes but do not want to buy them, you can say this.



Example:


Salesperson: 이걸로 하시겠어요?(Egeolo hasigesseoyo?)

Will you buy this one?


Customer: 음...그냥 좀 더 둘러볼게요. (Umm...geunyang jom deo deuleobolkeyo.)

Well...I’ll look around a little bit more.





10. Where are the (specific brand name) shoes?

: (특정 브랜드 이름) 신발 어디에 있나요? (Teukjeong beuraendeu ireum) shinbal eodie innayo?)


When you enter a shoe store and you have a specific brand that you want to check out, ask the staff this question, just put the brand name in the beginning.



Example:


Customer: 안녕하세요. 컨버스 신발 어디에 있나요?

(Annyeonghaseyo. Konboseu shinbareun odie innayo?)

Hi. Where are the Converse shoes?


Salesperson: 컨버스 섹션은 저기 왼쪽 모서리에 있어요.

(Keonbeoseu seksyeoneun jeogi oenjjok moseorie isseoyo.)

11. I'll take this.

: 이걸로 할게요. (Igeollo halkeyo.)


When you find the right shoes and you are ready to take them, use this phrase.



Example:


Customer: 이거 딱 맞아요, 이걸로 할게요. (Igo ttak majayo, igollo halkkeyo.)

This one fits perfectly, I'll take this one.


Salesperson: 네, 그럼 이걸로 담아드릴게요. (Ne, geureom igeolo damadeurilgeyo.)

OK, then I'll pack it for you.





12. Is it possible to exchange or refund?

: 교환이나 환불 가능한가요?(Gyohwanina hwanbul ganeunghangayo?)


if you wonder whether exchanges or refunds are possible, you can ask like this.



Example:


Customer: 혹시 교환이나 환불 가능한가요? (Hoksi, gyohwanina hwanbul ganeunghangayo?)

By any chance, is it possible to exchange or refund?


Salesperson: 네, 가능합니다. 영수증 보여주시겠어요?

(Ne, ganeunghabnida. Yeongsujeung boyeo jushigesseoyo?)

Yes it is possible. Can I check the receipt please?
